On behalf of the members of the Outstanding Omicron chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., welcome to our chapter’s website. I am honored and humbled to serve as President of this chapter. Omicron has provided service to the New York metropolitan area since 1935 and we continue to honor the vision of our amazing founder, Lola Mercedes Parker. Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is the FIRST business and professional sorority for African-American women and it has been in existence since 1929. Our founder was a visionary who believed economic independence for women was a way to freedom in our community. In the current climate of today's society, the goals of Iota are just as relevant as they were when our Illustrious Sorority was founded. We continue encouraging our members to embrace the ideals of friendship and sisterhood while providing excellent service to the community through our national programs, national projects, and chapter initiatives.
